Me at CJW98 viewsOn the weekend we (roommate and two other friends from Japan) went to "Cigar Jazz Wine", a bar in one of the expensive areas of Shanghai called Xin Tian Di. I had rissotto, a coke, and shared part of a pizza with them, and my part of the bill came to 180RMB (about CAD$28). The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The jazz group that played (and sang) was from the States, but I didn't catch their name.

Daiki, Eeyores, and Me74 viewsFirst my roommate and I saw these Eeyore pillows at Carrefour. Then, one day, my roommate bought one. He then suggested that Eeyore should be our room's mascot, and so the next time I was at Carrefour I bought one, too.

Lu Xun Park230 viewsThis is a picture of some of the water in the park just to the south of my university. As you can see, the park is quite extensive.
People in China seem to use the parks far more than people in Canada. There are always so many older people walking around, or sitting and playing cards, or singing opera, or doing exercises, etc. It's a social occasion for people, I think. Plus, most people there are really friendly to me and will come up and start talking to me.

Graffiti on a Rock122 viewsThere are lots of "I love so and so..." written on stones all over the local park.

A Street113 viewsI thought this street looked nice, with the trees down each side, so I took a picture of it.

A Sign in the Park103 viewsIn the big park near my university, there are a few signs like this with different sayings on them. This one says (rougly) "Flowers also have life. If you show them mercy, they will smile at you all the more beautifully."

Liu and Dai Ki at a Really Good Curry Restaurant137 viewsWe went to a really good Japanese curry restaurant in a more expensive area of town. The curry dishes are all around CAD$4.50, and the taxi fare to the restaruant costs a total of about CAD$4.00. This curry restaurant has 4 stores in Shanghai, one or two in the States, and over 1000 in Japan.
