Pencil Lead Resistors Styrofoam Cutting Setup
My mom wanted me to cut some Styrofoam. I had a nichrome wire to use as the cutting element, but the only power supply I had capable of delivering the right amount of power was an emergency car battery. I used 5 mechanical pencil leads (0.9mm diameter, 60mm length) wired in series to form a high-power current-limiting resistance.
